KMP 1 is a common search term, but the official course identity matters when you pay. Learners generally use KMP 1 or KMP I for Kanban System Design. A generic Kanban workshop, a tool demonstration and Team Kanban Practitioner are different offerings. The provider should be able to name the exact course and explain what completion records toward the Kanban Management Professional path.

It describes a course that builds foundational Kanban Method knowledge and guides learners through understanding a system so they can design an appropriate Kanban system. Verify four identities before comparing prices

Ask the trainer question precisely
A trainer can have extensive Kanban experience without being an Accredited Kanban Trainer, and a person can hold a Kanban credential without being authorised to teach KSD. Ask for the trainer's name and current status for the exact batch. If the trainer changes, reconfirm before attending.
Experience still matters after authorisation is verified. Ask what types of services the trainer has designed: product development, support, operations, finance, marketing or another domain. A strong trainer should help learners reason about their context rather than copy a software board.
Inspect what learners will produce
- A view of customer or stakeholder dissatisfaction and service purpose.
- Demand and capability evidence rather than assumed capacity.
- Work-item types, workflow, commitment points and delivery points.
- Initial WIP and pull policies with a reason for each choice.
- Service expectations, feedback loops and a plan to evolve the design.
The course may use a simulation or case study, but ask whether you can connect the work to a real service. The goal is system-design judgment. Watching somebody build columns in Jira or Miro is not equivalent to designing the policies behind a service.
Claims that deserve a follow-up
Pause when a provider promises the full KMP credential after KSD alone, guarantees a certificate regardless of participation, cannot name the trainer, or describes the course primarily as Kanban board software training. Ask for the exact written terms instead of resolving ambiguity through a sales call alone.
