The CSM certification is valid for two years from the date of issuance. To keep your certification active, you must renew it before it expires. You can do this by earning Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and paying the renewal fee. For more details, visit the Scrum Alliance website.
The Certified Scrum Master (CSM) exam follows a structured pattern:
- Number of Questions: 50 multiple-choice and true/false questions
- Time Limit: 60 minutes
- Passing Score: 74% (i.e., 37 out of 50 correct answers)
- Attempts: You get two chances to clear the exam
- Answer Choices: Each question has 3 or 4 options, with only one correct answer
Option 1: Get Another Scrum Alliance Certification
- Enroll in any other Scrum Alliance certification, and your CSM will be automatically renewed upon completion.
Option 2: Renew Manually on the Scrum Alliance Website
- Log in to your Scrum Alliance account
- Go to the Dashboard and click on the Renewal link
- Submit the required Scrum Education Units (SEUs) you’ve accumulated
- Pay the renewal fee, and your certification will be extended for another 2 years
