The April 2026 exam rules
Scaled Agile changed its exam policy on 14 April 2026. Foundational certifications, including SA, SSM, and POPM, now include two attempts when they are used within 60 days of course completion. Advanced certifications, including SASM and RTE, include one attempt in that 60-day window. The official exam and retake FAQ should be treated as the source of truth if a provider page says something different.
Additional unproctored retakes are USD 50 for most SAFe exams. Implementing SAFe is the exception at USD 250. Exam extensions are no longer offered under the current policy, so the 60-day deadline matters.
What the fee should include
- Authorized AI-Empowered SAFe POPM training and current courseware.
- Access to the POPM certification exam under the current attempt policy.
- Learning materials, exercises, and preparation support.
- SAFe Studio access supplied under the applicable course terms.
- A clear cancellation, transfer, and rescheduling policy.
The renewal cost is separate
POPM belongs to the SAFe Foundational certification tier. Scaled Agile currently lists this tier at USD 195 per year plus applicable tax. It renews eligible Foundational certifications held by the learner. Verify the current amount on the official certification-tier page, because renewal is not a one-time lifetime inclusion in the training fee.
A useful buying decision
Compare providers on the final payable amount, authorization, trainer experience, practical product exercises, and exam support. A low headline amount is not comparable if GST, the official course, or exam access is missing. A high crossed-out price is not evidence of value either; use the written invoice and inclusions.
