PSPO-AI Essentials is a one-day Scrum.org course for product professionals who want to use AI in Product Ownership without handing product judgment to a tool. It connects AI literacy and prompting with market understanding, personas, product vision, prototyping, validation, delegation, collaboration, security, and ethics.
The Professional Scrum Product Owner AI Essentials course is useful because product work contains many preparation tasks that AI can accelerate. It also contains decisions where false evidence, privacy mistakes, bias, and confident but unsupported output can cause harm.
The course is about product decisions, not prompt volume
A Product Owner does not create value by producing more personas, stories, roadmaps, or summaries. These artefacts matter only when they improve understanding and support a decision. The course places AI inside the Product Owner stances so learners can decide where assistance helps and where human accountability must remain explicit.
A useful prompt contains purpose, context, source evidence, constraints, and review criteria. A useful review asks what the model invented, what evidence is missing, whose perspective is absent, and which decision still belongs to a person.

Current assessment details
The current PSPO-AI Essentials assessment has 20 multiple-choice questions, a 30-minute timebox, and an 85% passing score. Learners completing an eligible official class receive one assessment attempt.
Scrum.org currently grants a second attempt at no additional cost when the first attempt is taken within 14 days of receiving the password and does not reach 85%. The certification does not expire and has no renewal fee. Course attendance also qualifies for 7 PMI PDUs. Confirm the instructions in the assessment email before testing.

A safe preparation exercise before class
- Choose one recurring product task, such as interview synthesis or experiment preparation.
- List the source evidence used today and classify any sensitive data.
- Write what the Product Owner must decide personally.
- Define which AI output would be useful and how it will be checked.
- Set one failure condition that would stop use of the workflow.
Bring the scenario without customer names, confidential strategy, personal data, regulated information, or proprietary content. The exercise should improve judgment, not test whether a model can absorb sensitive material.
