PSPO-AI Essentials is a one-day Scrum.org course for product professionals who want to use AI in Product Ownership without handing product judgment to a tool. It connects AI literacy and prompting with market understanding, personas, product vision, prototyping, validation, delegation, collaboration, security, and ethics.
The Professional Scrum Product Owner AI Essentials course is useful because product work contains many preparation tasks that AI can accelerate. It also contains decisions where false evidence, privacy mistakes, bias, and confident but unsupported output can cause harm.
The course is about product decisions, not prompt volume
A Product Owner does not create value by producing more personas, stories, roadmaps, or summaries. These artefacts matter only when they improve understanding and support a decision. The course places AI inside the Product Owner stances so learners can decide where assistance helps and where human accountability must remain explicit.
A useful prompt contains purpose, context, source evidence, constraints, and review criteria. A useful review asks what the model invented, what evidence is missing, whose perspective is absent, and which decision still belongs to a person.
What participants practise during the day
| Product activity | How AI may help | Required human check |
|---|---|---|
| Market and customer understanding | Organise approved research and identify patterns or gaps | Trace claims to sources and separate evidence from assumptions |
| Personas and product vision | Draft options and challenge internal consistency | Validate against customer evidence and strategy |
| Prototyping and testing | Prepare low-cost variants, scenarios, and questions | Observe real users and interpret context |
| Delegation and collaboration | Draft routine preparation and communication | Protect shared understanding, tone, and accountability |
| Security and ethics | Surface possible risks and policy questions | Follow organisational rules and make consequential judgments |
Current assessment details
The current PSPO-AI Essentials assessment has 20 multiple-choice questions, a 30-minute timebox, and an 85% passing score. Learners completing an eligible official class receive one assessment attempt.
Scrum.org currently grants a second attempt at no additional cost when the first attempt is taken within 14 days of receiving the password and does not reach 85%. The certification does not expire and has no renewal fee. Course attendance also qualifies for 7 PMI PDUs. Confirm the instructions in the assessment email before testing.
Who should consider the course
- Product Owners and Product Managers adding AI to discovery and decision preparation.
- Business Analysts who organise evidence and support product choices.
- Scrum Masters and coaches helping product roles use AI responsibly.
- Agile and product leaders setting practical AI boundaries.
- PSPO or CSPO learners who want a focused AI application course.
A technical AI background is not required. Familiarity with Scrum and Product Ownership helps because the exercises build on product responsibilities rather than teaching Scrum from the beginning.
A safe preparation exercise before class
- Choose one recurring product task, such as interview synthesis or experiment preparation.
- List the source evidence used today and classify any sensitive data.
- Write what the Product Owner must decide personally.
- Define which AI output would be useful and how it will be checked.
- Set one failure condition that would stop use of the workflow.
Bring the scenario without customer names, confidential strategy, personal data, regulated information, or proprietary content. The exercise should improve judgment, not test whether a model can absorb sensitive material.
Course fee and value test
AgileSeekers lists the current fee at ₹25,000 plus applicable taxes. Before enrolling, identify the product workflow you want to improve and the policy boundaries that apply. The course has more value when a learner can test one safe use case within 30 days.
If foundational Product Ownership is the main need, begin with PSPO training or consider CSPO training. Choose PSPO-AI Essentials when the Product Owner foundation exists and AI application has become the immediate question.
A credential with a visible workplace story
After the course, document one before-and-after example. Record the original time, evidence quality, review effort, decision outcome, and any error pattern. A credible story includes where AI was rejected or corrected, not only where it saved time.
