KMP 1 Employer Sponsorship: Build a Credible Business Case

Request employer funding for KMP 1 with a service problem, learning fit, application plan, cost clarity, evidence and manager-ready template.

KMP 1 Employer Sponsorship: Build a Credible Business Case - AgileSeekers

A manager is more likely to fund KMP 1 when the request connects training to a service problem the organisation already pays for. “I want a certification” asks the employer to fund personal interest. “Our review queue delays releases and we cannot explain its age or capacity” creates a business reason to investigate Kanban System Design.

Use the current AgileSeekers KMP 1 course page for schedule and fee details, then build the request around one bounded application. Do not promise a dramatic productivity percentage that the course or current evidence cannot support.

Write the case in six lines

  1. Service problem: name the repeated delay, overload, interruption or visibility gap.
  2. Current evidence: include a small amount of credible data or observable examples.
  3. Learning fit: explain why system design, demand, workflow, WIP and policies address the gap.
  4. Application: name the service and first experiment you will facilitate after class.
  5. Investment: state fee, taxes, time away from work and any tool cost.
  6. Review: propose when and how you will share learning and inspect the experiment.

A manager-ready example

“Customer change requests wait across analysis, security and release, but our board begins only at development. I am requesting KMP 1 training to learn how to map the end-to-end service, analyse demand and capability, and design initial pull and WIP policies. Within 30 days, I will facilitate a current-state workshop, propose one limited experiment and report what the evidence shows. The request includes the published course fee, applicable taxes and attendance time.”

Include the total investment honestly

State taxes, travel if any, working hours, rescheduling terms and who covers the time. A transparent request is easier to approve than a low headline fee followed by unplanned absence. If the company requires a purchase order or approved vendor, start that process before the batch fills.

Offer knowledge sharing without promising a free clone

You can share application lessons, facilitate a service workshop and explain your experiment. Do not promise to reproduce copyrighted course materials or deliver an unaccredited internal KMP 1 class. The employer is funding capability that returns to work, not permission to copy the course.

If the request is declined

Ask whether the issue is budget, timing, role fit, vendor approval or an unclear application case. Improve the proposal only where the concern is real. Do not buy the course personally merely to prove commitment if the learning has no place to be practised.

Offer a short review after the first experiment so the manager can decide whether further Kanban learning or coaching has evidence behind it.
